We started the 49 a couple weeks ago. This bike came to us with a lot of rake in the stock new forging. Our customer wanted this frame brought back to stock dimensions. We renecked it, then straightened out the tail section which was out by over an inch. If you look close you can see where bolts were used for filler rod in the old neck!

Wow what a great weekend we had. Went out to Rice-O-Rama Sunday and it was awesome. We had never vended at this event and let me tell you it is great. We are new on the metric seen and have only been doing XS650's and CB750's for a couple years. That being said this is a cool place to see some neat shit. Everyone that cam out liked what we were offering for metrics, such as our hardtail any bike $500, and it seems like we will get some work from the event. Finally after a month and a half I have my computer set up at the new shop and we can start updating the blog again. A lot of shit has been going on around here this summer and I hope to put some of the action up for you guys to see. We have been finishing up some projects that just seem endless some times, also starting new ones. In the works we have some XS stuff going along with another ironhead project. The SugerBear pan is almost done fab! That bike is going to be the death of us, but when everything on it is hand made it takes a shit ton of time.
With the new location and bigger space we have been able to get going on the parts end of stuff. We have a new air cleaner coming out this winter that is killer, also our hardtail for XS650's are in stock and ready to ship! We have set up a nice frame jig that allows us to hardtail just about anything so if you are looking for something different please just call us. The new location also has a much nicer show room set up and we are stocking in more Biltwell items again along with other hard to find smaller shop items! Please stop up to see us!

OK here is the deal on our new battery box, they fit a YTX7L series battery. It is a very small sealed battery that is good for kick start only applications. These battery boxes are 120.00 in Raw aluminum. The risers are stainless. Please email them as they are currently made to order. We are in the works on doing them for the V-Rod size battery as well as a Softail size battery for you electric start guys. Also we can get them done in black or chrome if needed.

Spring is coming...

Well with another foot of snow coming Friday it is getting hard to think that spring is here and with it comes riding your bike again. Before you jump on it for the first time this year do yourself a little favor and check the bike over. I always like to go over a few things before that first ride. Before you even start up check the tires for dry cracks and under inflation. Next up go through your lights. After this I give the brakes a squeeze and make sure the pads have plenty of meat. Next make sure you have oil in the tank and trans. And primary. After this fresh gas and a little fuel treatment and you should be off. If you ever have any questions call your local shop and schedule a check up!

One everything is fit just final weld. Remember you can take measurements off of the motor mounts to the rear axle to make sure everything is square. Take you r time and it will look nice. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Here is a picture of the Chop Shop Cycles Hardtail ready to go.
Fish mouthing the up posts to ft the hardtail.
Locating the bottom rails to the old frame.
It is always easier to grind a little at a time. Fitting the tail section with this method is not an exact science, we have found that different years of XS's are different and we can't tell you just where to cut.
This is how the bottom lays in. The slugs will go in the frame in the location the directions say, you just need to fit the up post to this section by fish mouthing it also.

XS Hardtail with a twist...PART 1

For this hardtail conversion we are going to leave the center section in place. You may have seen this look on the XS650 Choppper Site before. I believe the Fong Bros are known for the look we call it our dominator hardtail.
Here you can seen the rough cut made to the frame, we trim it off at the seat hoop and just behind the up post for the controls . We will cut back more as we fit the Hardtail.
In this picture and the one below you can see the brace we use to keep everything square. We are cutting out the cross brace in the frame so you need to brace it or you will have trouble aligning it later.

If you use a car style key switch on the older style starters you still need a relay to handle the current. The switch just doesn't hold up.

Kickstand problems? We got a solution.

If you are running mid mounts on a Harley Frame that has the kickstand mounted to the old forward controls we have a mounting plate to keep the kickstand in place without and welding.
The mount is $40.00 in a raw finish add 10 for powder coat.
