What next?

Is this the future of original bikes? Will this be cool after pink goes out of style?

History

I spent my morning looking at Easyriders from the 70's and started to wonder what happened to all those cool bikes. Maybe the answer is in front of me...

Narrowing a Sporty

Mark the tank at the seam and begin to cut
Old bottom of tank
Mark your center and split tanks then take off the amount you want to narrow evenly on both side. I removed an inch on each.
Weld the two halves together. This is as far as I got today. I will add the bottom and tunnel later.

South Bend Update

Well it is always amazing what a little paint and cleaning can do. Here is our new lathe all cleaned up. It seems like it is going to be a nice one.

Gritty flattrack fun

Spent a chilly Sunday in Brockton watching the races, getting pelted with dirt and breathing Power Mist fumes. Wouldn't have had it any other way. Lots of Rotax & four stroke dirt bikes, but we also saw an HD flathead, rigid Triumph and a Moto Guzzi out there making the rounds. Good stuff. Now, if they only made a Sissy Bar & Coffin Tank class....

Also saw this somewhat modified KTM in the lot. I didn't get to meet the owner but it's fairly obvious from his handiwork that he's one sick fuck...

This was a photo shoot for a calender we did in 05 I think. It was my bike, my shop, not my girl I am a married man and she won't let me post pics of her and I really don't want you guys thinking dirty about her either. So here is a filler!

Tech Tip

I am always seeing people post questions on forums about this. To install an Ironhead in a frame all you need to do is lay the motor on the primary side. Support the motor with a 4x4 block of wood so it doesn't lay to far over. Next swing the frame into place and bolt the rear lower frame mount with 3/8 fine thread bolts. Don't go over tight you may need a little play to get the front mount in place. Bolt the front up with the two mounts right side mount goes on the out side of the right frame rail left side mount goes on the inside of the left frame rail. Use your hardware don't forget the pipe spacers that go between the frame rails in the front two holes. Stand the frame up and you are good to go.

Not only is Chris one talented mufugga, he also must have the patience of Buddha.

Update

This is one of the bikes we put a hardtail on two weeks ago. The customer wants us to do the fender tag light and seat this round. He is looking for a real "horse look". It is funny to me how in the last six years we have gone full circle I started the shop with my 73 hardtail ironhead and now that is my bread and butter. Times are hard out there and I am very thankfull to have whatever I can get. If anyone is looking for an ironhead project or finished custom please get in touch with me I have two corrently that are in need of a home. One is a 71 and the other is a 82.

What is that?

I got my seat from Duane for my new bike and it looks great. Hopefully I can get the bike done sometime this year. I will put up some other photos soon.

Bro-paganda.

Saw this bumper sticker today on a pickup truck. Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
Sort of like eating a big sloppy Whopper while wearing a T-shirt that says "Eat Healthy!"

6 lb. tag light bracket?

There really is no reason for a license plate mount to be made of 1/4" high-carbon armor plating (after all, what does a plate & cheap trailer light weigh?); but if you must use one, additional bracketry might be a good idea.

What Plate

It seems sometimes side mount plates just don't like to stay in place. This little fucker had its own mind. Sorry "Owner" I had to post this pic.

Failure is not an option.

Frame breaks on a run? Game over, right?
No way, José. We had a local boy in upstate NY offer up his TIG, hung Josh's bike from an engine hoist, and started laying down the metal. One guy turned up slugs, another made a gusset, and others welded. Classic example of a crew coming together and using their individual skills in the best Never Say Die tradition.

And another one

Last week we did two hardtails, it seems we are always doing things in groups. This one has a nice Led Sled hardtail we got from Pat. I really like the looks of it and they were fast to get it here.
